Ryan Rue threw six shutout innings for Hofstra and left in a scoreless tie before Liberty pushed across a run in the bottom of the eighth to post a 1-0 victory over the Pride Saturday at Liberty Baseball Stadium.
Hofstra fell to 2-11 on the season with the hard-luck loss. The Flames moved to 14-4 on the year.
Liberty mounted the game-winning rally in the eighth with a leadoff double from Jonathan Embry. He moved to third on a flyout and then came home on a single from Tyler Galazin.
Both teams had chances in the contest as Hofstra left 14 runners on base and Liberty stranded seven. The Pride left runners on in six innings including the bases loaded twice.
Andrew Mundy (0-1) took the loss for the Pride, allowing a run on three hits in two innings of work. Rue allowed three hits and one walk with three strikeouts in his six innings.
Garrett Price (3-1) earned the win in relief, throwing three scoreless innings while allowing three hits. Noah Skirrow started for Liberty and allowed three hits and six walks in five innings with seven strikeouts. Evan Brabrand pitched a scoreless ninth for his fifth save.
Sean Rausch had two hits and a stolen base for the Pride.

The series concludes Sunday with a 1 p.m. start time.
Notes:
-Rue has not allowed an earned run in his last 14 innings and lowered his ERA to 2.28.
-Hofstra is 1-4 all-time versus Liberty.
-Hofstra was 0-10 with runners in scoring position.
