MBB: Hofstra Closes Regular Season At Delaware

3/1/2019 6:00:00 PM

Newark, DE - The Hofstra Men's Basketball team will look to complete a stellar regular season on Saturday when it travels to Delaware.

Tip-off from the Bob Carpenter Center is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The game will air on CBS Sports Interactive / College Sports Live, along with a Pride Productions live audio broadcast and live statistics. Links to all three can be found on this page as well on the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The audio only broadcast is courtesy of WRHU (88.7 FM).

Hofstra improved to 24-6 overall and 14-3 in Colonial Athletic Association play with an 80-77 road win over Drexel on Thursday night. The victory clinched at least a share of the regular season CAA title for the Pride and earned Hofstra the top seed in the upcoming CAA Championship. Senior Justin Wright-Foreman poured in 32 points, including five three-pointers, in the win over the Dragons, while junior Eli Pemberton added 15 points and six rebounds.

Wright-Foreman is now averaging 26.8 points per game, while Pemberton is second with 15.5 points and senior Desure Buie is third with 10.9 points per game. Graduate student Jacquil Taylor leads Hofstra with 8.4 rebounds per game, while Buie leads the team in assists and steals with 5.4 and 2.5 per game, respectively.

Delaware heads into Saturday's game with a 16-14 overall record and an 8-9 CAA mark. The Blue Hens dropped a 75-64 decision to Northeastern on Thursday. Ithiel Horton and Ryan Allen each had 16 points in the game, while Eric Carter posted 12 points and eight rebounds. Allen leads Delaware in scoring this season with 16.3 points per game, while Carter is averaging a double-double with 16.1 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. Kevin Anderson has dished out 93 assists to lead the team.

It will be a familiar foe for Hofstra on Saturday as the Pride and the Blue Hens have met 89 times in the longtime series, with Hofstra holding a 57-32 advantage. The 89 all-time meetings ranks as the Pride's most played opponent all-time (currently tied with Drexel). The Pride and Delaware first met in the 1954-55 season with Hofstra winning both meetings that season. Hofstra has won three straight meetings and has won nine of the last 10 meetings dating back to the 2014-15 season. The Pride won this season's earlier meeting, 91-46, back on December 28 in Hempstead. Wright-Foreman had 29 points in that game, while Pemberton posted 17 points and Taylor added 12 rebounds.
