KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Junior midfielder
Lucy Porter and junior forward
Sabrina Bryan added United Soccer Coaches (USC) All-America honors to their resumes, the Association announced Thursday evening.
Porter and Bryan become the sixth and seventh Pride players in program history to be named All-Americans, and it is the first time since 2007 that two Hofstra players were represented on the All-America squad in the same season since Sue Weber and Brooke DeRosa were All-Americans in 2007. Porter and Bryan are also the first All-Americans for the Hofstra women's soccer program since Kristin Desmond was named to the list in 2017.
Porter adds Second Team honors after securing USC All-East Region First Team, Colonial Athletic Association Midfielder of the Year, All-CAA First Team, CAA Championship Most Outstanding Player, and MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List nods this season. Porter, just the second Pride player named to the second team in program history, led the CAA in goals, goals per game, points, and points per game, set a Hofstra program record with 40 points this season on 16 goals and eight assists. Her goal total finished as the third-highest amount in a single season in Hofstra history and her assist total was the sixth-highest amount. At the conclusion of the season, Porter ranked nationally in total points (9th), total goals (12th), points per game (14th), and goals per game (16th).
Porter will enter her senior season with 31 career goals, ranking fifth all-time at Hofstra and 74 career points which ranks seventh.
Bryan also earned a slew of accolades this year, including United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team, CAA Attacking Player of the Year, All-CAA First Team and All-CAA Tournament Team honors. Bryan registered 11 goals and 10 assists this season for her second-straight 30+ point season (32 points), ranking second in the CAA in goals, assists and points. Her assist total tied for the fourth-highest in program history and was 21st nationally the conclusion of the season. Bryan was a key player for the Pride especially toward the back half of the season, recording 26 of her 32 points in an 11-match span from Elon (9/29) to Loyola Chicago (11/16) where she sent home the overtime game-winning goal that propelled Hofstra to the NCAA Championship Second Round.
Bryan will begin her senior season tied for eighth all-time at Hofstra with 26 career goals and seventh all-time with 68 points.
Hofstra, who captured its third-straight CAA Championship this year, concluded the 2019 season with a 16-4-2 mark and reached the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. Hofstra's 16 wins matched the third-highest win total in program history.
