Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra men's basketball team will look for its first win of the season on Saturday as the Pride plays host to Monmouth. 

Tip-off from the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex is scheduled for 4 p.m.

The game will feature free "Military Appreciation Day" t-shirts for the first 750 students and 750 fans.

Hofstra dropped its season opener to San Jose State on Wednesday by the score of 79-71. Senior Eli Pemberton tied for game-high honors with 23 points, while junior Isaac Kante posted eight points and tied for game-high honors with 11 rebounds in his Pride debut. 

Monmouth defeated Lehigh, 66-62, in its season opener on Wednesday. Ray Salnave led the Hawks with 15 points, while Deion Hammond had 14 points. 

Hofstra is 3-6 all-time against Monmouth with the teams first playing during the 1983-84 season, a game in which the Pride won 77-43. The two teams have had some exciting games over the past few years. In addition to being Coach Mihalich's first opponent at Hofstra in 2013-14, the last two meetings have produced incredible finishes. In last year's 75-73 win, the Pride got a three-point play from Justin Wright-Foreman with 16 seconds left to earn the win. In 2017-18, Hofstra erased a five-point deficit with 24 seconds left and got an improbable final play that saw Wright-Foreman purposely miss a free throw, Stafford Trueheart tap the ball out and Jalen Ray drain a three-pointer to give the Pride the lead.
