Zachary Knighton-Ward also placed to lead the Hofstra Wrestling team to a seventh-place finish at the Army West Point Black Knight Invitational at Christl Arena Sunday afternoon.
Stamm posted a 2-1 mark in the tournament, falling to Army's Cael McCormick, 9-7 in the 165-lb. final. Stamm improved to 8-2 on the season.
Reece Heller took home fifth-place honors in the 149-lb weight class with a 3-2 record on the day. Heller defeated Maryland's Michael Doetsch, 8-1 in the fifth-place match. Heller is now 11-3 on the season
Knighton-Ward recorded a 2-3 day at 285-pounds. He dropped a 3-1 decision to Central Michigan's Drake Pauwels in the fifth-place contest. Knighton-Ward is now 7-4 on the season.
Four Pride wrestlers went 0-2 on the day Sunday including two who were making their season debut. Sophomore
Trey Rogers was 0-2 at 197-pounds in his season debut while red-shirt freshman
Giuseppe Hoose was 0-2 at 184-pounds. Red-shirt sophomore
Charlie Kane was 0-2 at 149-pounds on the day. He is now 1-5 on the season. Red-shirt freshman
Reggie Poulin was 0-2 at 285-pounds and is now 2-4 on the season.
Hofstra, which only entered seven wrestlers, finished in seventh place with 29 points. The host Black Knights of Army won the tournament with 140 points. Penn State was second with 127.5 points and Central Michigan was third with 107.5 points in the eight-team field.
The Pride return to action this Thursday, November 21 when Hofstra entertains the Falcons of Air Force at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. Match time is 7 p.m.
