Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Head Men's Basketball Coach Joe Mihalich today announced the signing of a pair of student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.

Joining the Pride in the fall of 2020 to further their academic and athletic careers are David Green (Ocoee, FL) and Zion Bethea (South Orange, NJ).

"We are so excited about David and Zion joining our program and the Hofstra community," commented Mihalich. "Both have the ability to be special players for us and we look forward to them showcasing their skills as members of the Pride in the near future. What a great day for the Hofstra family as we add two outstanding student-athletes!"

Green, a 6-7 215-pound guard/forward, attends Ocoee High School in Ocoee, Florida. Green averaged 13 points and six rebounds per game last year in helping lead his team to the district championship game. Green scored over 30 points in three games last season and in addition, was named an all-star at the Hoop Group Elite Camp and he participated in the NCAA College Basketball Academy in July. A strong student, he is also a member of the National Honor Society.

"David is a super-skilled wing who can be a mismatch at his size," mentioned Mihalich. "He is a terrific three-point shooter but also a good playmaker and excellent passer. David is a terrific kid who is quite versatile and comes from an excellent high school team."

Bethea, a 6-3 205-pound guard, attends Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, New Jersey. A four-year member of the basketball program, he averaged 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists as a junior, 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists as a sophomore, and 18 points, seven rebounds, and four assists as a freshman. He has earned a multitude of honor as he was Essex County First Team and All-Super Essex Conference First Team as a junior. He also already reached 1,000 career points and helped his team to a conference championship as a junior.

"Zion is a strong, physical guard who can really score but plays with great basketball IQ," commented Mihalich. "He makes his teammates better and his team win. Zion comes from a great high school program with a winning culture and is a high character kid."
