Buffalo, NY – Pride freshman
Jordyn McDonnell broke the school record for the 6K to lead the Hofstra Women Cross Country team to a 34
th-place finish in the 2019 NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Northeast Regional Championship at the University at Buffalo Friday.
McDonnell, a native of Lake Ronkonkoma, New York, posted a 6K school record time of 21:08.6 to place 82
nd and lead the Pride for the fourth time this season. Her time topped Mary Sullivan's time of 21:11 in the 2005 Colonial Athletic Association Championship in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Sophomore
Sophia Masciarelli was the second Hofstra finisher, placing 157th in 22:10.4. Freshman
Leah Gath finished 207th in a season-best 22:57 while classmate
Kayla Stadeker was 261st in 25:05.1. Junior
Megan Boese was the Pride's final scoring runner, finishing 265th in 26:08.4.
As a team, the Pride placed 34
th in the NCAA Regional Championship field with 939 points. Harvard, behind five runners in the top 26, won the regional with 92 points. Cornell finished second with 126 points while Boston College was third with 133 points in the 37-team field. Albany senior Hannah Reinhardt was the individual champion posting a time of 19:28.4.
Due to the heavy snowfall in Western New York this week, the Division I Northeast Regional Championship was moved from the Audubon Golf Course in Amherst to a road race on campus.
