WSOC: Hofstra Hosts James Madison, Travels to Delaware for Two Critical CAA Matches

OPENING KICKOFF
The Hofstra University Women's Soccer team will compete in two important Colonial Athletic Association matches, first hosting James Madison in a rematch of the 2018 CAA Championship on Thursday, October 10 at 7 p.m. before making a trip to Delaware for a meeting with the Blue Hens on Sunday, October 13 at 1 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE HOFSTRA PRIDE
Entering the third weekend of CAA action. Hofstra is atop the CAA ladder with a 3-0-1 conference mark. The offense has been absolutely dominant through the first four conference contests, outshooting those opponents, 103-28. Hofstra's core offensive players; Miri Taylor, Lucy Shepherd, Sabrina Bryan, and Lucy Porter have combined for 27 of Hofstra's 35 points in conference action, led by Miri Taylor who has three goals and three assists to lead Hofstra's league statistics. In addition, Shepherd, the CAA Co-Offensive Player of the Week, as well as Bryan and Porter have all tallied two goals and two assists since conference action began.  
 
Freshman Skylar Kuzmich recently earned her third shutout of the season and is boasting a 0.75 goals against average during CAA action and 0.727 save percentage.

Inside the Series:
Hofstra trails in the all-time series to the Dukes, 9-11-3. During the regular season last year, Hofstra fell to James Madison, 1-0 before turning around to shut out the Dukes to claim the 2018 CAA Championship by a 2-0 score.
 
About the James Madison Dukes (4-8-1, 1-1-1 CAA):
James Madison has played a very challenging schedule thus far and has faced four top-25 teams including Georgetown, Washington State, Penn State and Duke. Through the first three conference games for the Dukes, they have tied William & Mary (2-2), lost to Delaware (1-0), and defeated Northeastern (4-3). Ebony Wiseman will be one of the players to watch for the Dukes, as she has registered a team-high 14 points this year with six goals, while Haley Crawford has recorded seven assists and two goals. Hannah McShea is JMU's primary goalkeeper and has recorded a 1.86 goals against average and 0.647 save percentage in conference action.

Inside the Series:
Hofstra leads the all-time series against the Blue Hens, 20-7-1. The teams met twice last season, once during the regular season and once during the CAA Championship with the Pride coming away with 1-0 wins on both occasions.
 
About the Delaware Blue Hens (8-5-0, 3-1-0 CAA):
Before battling Hofstra, Delaware will take on the Northeastern Huskies on the road on Thursday. To come away with a win against the Blue Hens in the second half of the weekend, Hofstra will need to take command of the Delaware defense which has helped post three-straight shutouts while not allowing a goal in the last 370 minutes of action. Offensively, Alexis Montgomery has a team-high three goals while in goal, Kamryn Stablein is the top keeper statistically in the CAA, leading the league in save percentage (.813), goals against average (0.784) and shutouts (4).
 
UP NEXT
Hofstra will have a seven-day break and will return to action on Sunday, October 20 for its final regular season home contest of 2019 against the UNCW Seahawks. The match will serve as senior day and is set to kick off at 1 p.m.
