Djuna Slort added a goal and two assists but it wasn't enough as the 12
th-ranked Blue Hens of Delaware defeated Hofstra, 8-4 in a Colonial Athletic Association contest at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium Friday afternoon.
Hofstra, which dropped its second consecutive game, falls to 6-10 overall and 0-4 in the CAA. Delaware improved to 11-3 overall and 3-0 in conference action.
Delaware scored twice in the first quarter on goals by Ashlyn Carr off a rebound, and Grace Hoepfner off a deflection. Hofstra cut the deficit to 2-1 just 44 seconds into the second quarter on senior

The Pride had a rough six minute period at the end of the second quarter and into the third in which the Blue Hens tallied four unanswered goals by four different players, including three in a 1:36 span in the third, to boost their lead to 6-1.
Hofstra cut the deficit to 6-2 when Slort scored off a penalty corner with Warfel and junior
Frankie O'Brien assisting with 3:40 to play in the quarter. But UD added consecutive goals by Femke Strien, to complete her hat-trick, in the first 5:34 of the fourth quarter to bump the lead to 8-2.
Larsson and Slort then hooked up for back-to-back goals off of penalty corners in the final seven minutes with Larsson posting her eighth and ninth goals of the year to close out the scoring.
Hofstra will close out their 13-game home schedule on Sunday, October 27 when the Pride host the Tigers of Towson on Senior Day at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium. Game time is noon.
