West Point, NY - Freshman Maddie Brown won her first round singles match to advance at the 2019 Intercollegiate Tennis Association Championship at Army West Point Friday. The doubles team of Brown and Jasmine King were defeated in their first round match.

Brown rallied after losing the first set against Niagra's Andreea Peteu, coming back to post a 1-6, 6-1, 6-1 victory. She advances to face Columbia's Melissa Sakar in the second round. Sakar is seeded in the 17-32 block and had a first round bye.

Brown and King were eliminated from play by Boston College's Hailey Wilcox and DashaPossokhova, 8-2. in the first round.
