FH: Hofstra Falls At William And Mary In A CAA Battle

Williamsburg, VA – Pride junior Frankie O'Brien and sophomore Cami Larsson each recorded a goal and an assist but the Tribe tallied four unanswered goals as William and Mary defeated Hofstra, 4-2 in a Colonial Athletic Association contest at Busch Field Friday night.

The Pride (5-7, 0-2) jumped on the board just 9:14 into the contest as O'Brien scored her first goal of the year off a pass from Larsson for a 1-0 lead after one quarter.

The Tribe (6-5, 2-0) tied the game in the second quarter with 5:37 to play in the half as junior Ashley Drum tallied her first goal of the year as the half ended deadlocked at 1-1. William and Mary added two goals in the third quarter as senior Cassidy Goodwin broke the tie just 3:07 into the period off a pass from classmate Christie van de Kamp. The Tribe made it 3-1 with 4:22 to play in the third as junior Haley Hopkins scored her third of the year from senior Woodard Hooper.

William and Mary ended their run 1:45 into the fourth quarter as van de Kamp notched her fifth of the year from Annie Snead and sophomore Jorja Morgan.

The Pride closed out the scoring with 3:39 to play as Larsson converted a penalty corner for her seventh goal of the season. O'Brien and senior Madison Warfel assisted on the goal.

Hofstra returns to action on Sunday, October 13 when the Pride travel to James Madison for a 12 p.m. contest at the JMU Field Hockey Complex.

Notes
- Hofstra dropped their fourth consecutive meeting with the Tribe. William and Mary leads the series, 15-7.
- The Pride was outshot in the contest, 25-7.
- Hofstra goalie Merlijn van der Vegt recorded eight saves in the Pride goal.
- William and Mary had five penalty corners to the Pride's three.
