Sophia Masciarelli placed third and classmate
Sara Leavens finished fifth to lead the Pride to a third-place finish in the 5K Stony Brook University Wolfie Invitational Saturday afternoon.
Masciarelli, a native of Northbridge, Massachusetts, posted a time of 18:59.40 in her first collegiate race and finished 30 seconds behind the winner, senior Annika Sisson from Stony Brook.
Leavens, from Avon, Connecticut, recorded a time of 19:10.73 to be Hofstra's second runner while senior
Felicia Banda was the Pride's third finisher, placing 17
th in 20:32:12. Sophomore
Megan Boese finished 26
th overall and 22
nd in the scoring with a time of 22:15.69 while senior
Alli Bacher was 29
th overall and 23
rd in scoring in 23:36.13.
In the final team standings, the host Seawolves of Stony Brook finished first with 32 points and placed their five top runners in the top 13. Seton Hall was second with 51 points and Hofstra was third with 70 points.
Hofstra will return to action on Saturday, September 29 at the Lehigh University Paul Short Run in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
