VB: Pride Sweeps Towson For First CAA Victory

Towson, MD - The trio of freshman Aisha Skinner (12 kills, 12 digs), senior Michela Rucli (11 kills, .786 attack percentage) and junior Laura Masciullo (11 kills) led the Hofstra Volleyball team to a three-set sweep of Towson on Monday evening at SECU Arena.

Hofstra improved to 11-5 and 1-1 in Colonial Athletic Association play with the win by set scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-23. Towson falls to 6-10 and 1-2 in the league.

After a slow start offensively in the first set, Hofstra came alive in the second stanza and hit at a .382 clip to dominate the second set on their way to the commanding lead in the match. The Pride would nearly hit .300 in the final set as well before settling in for a .289 attack percentage that proved to be enough in the convincing victory.

Junior Luisa Sydlik posted 34 assists, six digs and three blocks for Hofstra, which also got eight digs and six assists from freshman Maddie Appleton. Senior Doris Bogoje added six kills and three blocks for the Pride. Olivia Finckel led Towson with 14 kills, while Jocelyn Kuilan added eight kills and six digs.

Hofstra returns to action on Friday when it hosts Elon at 7 p.m.

NOTES
- Hofstra is now 44-16 all-time against Towson.
- The double-double was the fifth of the season for Skinner.
- The .786 attack percentage was the highest of Rucli's career for a match with at least 10 kills and the highest for a Pride player since Veronika Kostova hit .789 (16-1-19) on August 27, 2016 against Bakersfield.
