West Point, NY - The Hofstra Volleyball team won its sixth straight match and in turn captured the Black Knights Invitational with a three-set sweep of Army West Point on Saturday evening.
The win improved the Pride's record to 6-1, while Army West Point fell to 3-3. The six-match win streak is the longest for Hofstra since a 10-match win streak from September 19 - October 17, 2014. Hofstra won by set scores of 26-24, 25-21 and 25-23.
Junior
Luisa Sydlik posted 28 assists and 13 digs for her fifth double-double of the season. The Pride got nine kills from freshman
Aisha Skinner, while senior
Doris Bogoje tallied six kills and six blocks. Freshman
Maddie Appleton added 11 digs, while junior
Laura Masciullo posted eight kills and five digs. Courtney Horace and Monica Eckford each had nine kills for the Black Knights, which also got 12 assists from Lauren Janok.
Bogoje was named the MVP of the tournament and was joined on the all-tournament squad by Skinner. It was the second straight tournament honor for Bogoje, who earned all-tournament accolades last week at the Hilton Penn's Landing Temple Invitational.
Hofstra is back in action when it heads west to take on San Francisco next Friday, September 7 at 6 p.m.

- Hofstra improved to 7-2 all-time against Army West Point.
- The Pride went 3-0 this week against teams from New York State and improved to 111-33 all-time against in-state foes.
- With the six-match win streak, Hofstra has now had at least a six-match win streak in 20 of the last 24 seasons.
