Columbus, OH – The Hofstra Men's Soccer team fell, 1-0, to Ohio State on Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in the Pride's final game of the Wolstein Classic. After a lengthy lightning delay, the game was called in the 84th minute due to travel restrictions.
Hofstra (0-1-1) had a number of chances early, outshooting Ohio State (1-1) in the beginning of the first half, including putting two shots on goal.
The Buckeyes broke the scoreless tie in the 65th minute, earning a penalty kick, which Jake Scheper putting it past
Alex Ashton.
A pair of defensive saves kept it a one-goal game, while senior goalkeeper
Alex Ashton also made five saves.
The game entered a lightning delay in the 84th minute and never resumed.
Ashton's 12 saves on the weekend earned him a spot on the All-Tournament Team along with sophomore
Matthew Vowinkel, who scored in Friday's draw with Dayton. The Flyers were the tournament champions after defeating Furman on Sunday.
The Pride is back in action on Thursday, heading to No. 25 Colgate for a 5 p.m. matchup.
