Hamilton, N.Y. – The Hofstra Men's Soccer team fell to No. 21 Colgate, 2-0, on Thursday night at Beyer-Smith '76 Field.
The loss drops the Pride to 0-2-1 on the season, while the Raiders stay unbeaten at 3-0.
Hofstra held Colgate off the board for nearly the entire first half, but Edward Bass put in a low shot from within the six-yard box with 58 seconds left in the frame to give the Raiders the lead. The Pride tried to answer with a strike from sophomore
Storm Strongin in the waning seconds, but it sailed high.
Hofstra upped its pressure in the second half, with juniors
Luke Brown and
Peter Meyer both testing Colgate goalkeeper Jacob Harris with shots on goal. But the Raiders sealed the win with from Oliver Harris, who broke free from the Pride defense on a pass from Lucas Lezcano in the 76th minute.
Hofstra returns to action on Sunday, playing at Syracuse at 6 p.m.
