Bronx, NY - Justin Bardwell's single in the bottom of the 11th inning delivered the only run of the game as Fordham posted a 1-0 win over Hofstra Tuesday night at Houlihan Field. The loss snapped Hofstra's seven game winning streak.
The Pride slipped to 21-16 on the season while the Rams improved to 28-14-1.
Alvin Melendez (2-1), the sixth Fordham pitcher, earned the win after throwing two innings of two-hit relief with four strikeouts.
Zach Altieri (2-1), Hofstra's sixth pitcher took the loss after allowing two hits and the one run in one-third of an inning.
Melendez also scored the only run of the game as he lead off the inning with a ground rule double.
Seamus Brazill started for Hofstra and pitched 3 2/3 innings of two-hit ball.
Jack Anderson followed with an inning and two-thirds of no-hit ball.
Jimmy Joyce (2/3 inning),
Andrew Mundy (1 inning) and
Brad Camarda (3 innings) followed with scoreless appearances too. Camarda escaped a jam in the 10th, striking out the side after putting runners on second and third.
Vito Friscia paced the Hofstra offense with a 3-4 night.
Parker Quinn went 2-5.
Hofstra returns to action Friday afternoon when it opens a three-game series with Northeastern at University Field. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
