Hempstead, NY - Hofstra University Women's Soccer defender
Monique Iannella was named to the 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America Women's Soccer Third Team. Selected by the College Sports Information Director of America (CoSIDA), the team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. Iannella is the 25th Hofstra University student-athlete to be named an Academic All-American and the fifth from the women's soccer program.
Iannella, a senior from Victoria, Australia, played in in all 23 games for Hofstra this season and started 21. She helped lead the Pride to a second consecutive Colonial Athletic Association Women's Soccer championship and NCAA Tournament appearance, which included a first round victory at No. 3 seed Boston College. Iannella contributed seven points (1 goal, 5 assists) from her defensive position, including a school-record tying three-assist effort in Hofstra's victory over Towson. In the classroom, Iannella holds a 4.00 grade point average as a business analytics major.
