Hofstra will bring a 10-3 record into its conference opener and in the midst of the current seven-game win streak. It has been a stellar to start to the 2018-19 campaign for the Pride as the 10-3 mark is tied for the best 13-game start in the program's CAA era (since 2001). The seven-game win streak is tied for the ninth-longest win streak in program history and the longest since an eight-game streak in 2015-16. Not to be outdone, Hofstra has also won 10 straight home games dating back to last season and it is the second-longest of the Pride's CAA era and the longest since a 21-game streak spanning the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.
Senior
Justin Wright-Foreman leads the Pride with 24.8 points per game, while senior
Desure Buie has dished out a team-high 58 assist this season and leads the nation with a 94.6 free throw percentage. Graduate student
Jacquil Taylor, who is coming off the best week of his career, is tops on the team with 7.5 rebounds per outing.
Delaware is 8-5 and has been off since dropping a 73-71 decision to Delaware State on December 19. Eric Carter has been a force for the Blue Hens with averages of 19.5 points and 10.5 rebounds per game, both team-highs. Ithiel Horton is second on the team with 13.7 points per contest.
It will be a familiar foe for Hofstra on Friday as the Pride and the Blue Hens have met 88 times in the longtime series, with Hofstra holding a 56-32 advantage. The 88 all-time meetings ranks as the Pride's most played opponent all-time. The Pride and Delaware first met in the 1954-55 season with Hofstra winning both meetings that season. Hofstra won both meetings a season ago and has won eight of the last nine meetings dating back to the 2014-15 season.
