MBB: Hofstra Closes Out Non-Conference Slate With Win Over Rosemont

Hempstead, NY - Hofstra had four players score in double-figures, led by career-bests from Kenny Wormley (20) and Jacquil Taylor (18), and saw all 10 players score in a 107-54 victory over Rosemont Saturday afternoon at the David S. Mack Sports and Exhibition Complex. The 107 points is a season-high and matched the Mack Sports Complex record for points in a game set against Molloy on November 30, 2017. The 53-point victory margin is also the largest in the program's Division I history.

Hofstra, which won for the seventh consecutive game, improved to 10-3 with the win and closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule. The Pride also improved to 7-0 at home this season and extended their home-court win streak to 10 games dating back to last season.

The Ravens scored the first four points of the game before Hofstra went on a 22-4 run over the next 6:32 to take a 22-8 lead with 12:04 to play. Taylor scored nine points in the run. The teams traded scores before the Pride went on another run, this one 17-0, to turn a 26-12 lead into a 43-12 advantage with 7:07 to play in the opening half. Hofstra would close the half with a 19-10 spurt to take a 62-22 lead into the break.

The second half was more deliberate with the Pride taking its largest lead of the game up to that point, 79-34, on a Connor Klementowicz three-pointer with 13:52 remaining. The Pride would build the lead to 50, 91-41, on Kevin Schutte's layup with 9:45 to go. The Pride's largest lead of the game would be 56, 106-50, with 1:52 to play on a Klementowicz put back.

In addition to Wormley and Taylor, Justin Wright-Foreman added 14 points and Desure Buie tallied his first career double-double with 13 points and a career-high tying 10 assists. Several other Pride players had career-bests as well with Klementowicz tallying a personal-best nine points and five rebounds; Schutte with six points and eight rebounds; and Stafford Trueheart with a career-best 13 rebounds. Wormley also added a career-high six steals while Buie's four thefts matched his personal-best. Taylor had seven rebounds to go with his career-best point total. The graduate transfer was a perfect 7-7 from the floor and 4-4 from the free throw line on the day.

Basil Thompson was the only Rosemont player in double figures with 11 points. Alex Epps-Ortiz had nine points while Jalil Myers and Marlon Sharpton each had eight. Myers grabbed a team-best six rebounds.

Hofstra will be back in action Friday, December 28 when it opens Colonial Athletic Association play against Delaware at the Mack Sports Complex. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. Tickets can be purchased by visiting HofstraTickets.com, by calling (516) HOF-TIXX or in person at the Hofstra Athletics Ticket Office in the lobby of the Mack Sports Complex.

-Hofstra's seven-game win streak is tied for the ninth-longest in program history.
- The 10-game home court win streak is only the second double figure home court win streak in the program's CAA era (since 2001). The Pride won 21 straight home games spanning the 2004-05 and 2005-06 seasons.
-The Pride's 57 rebounds are the most in a game since grabbing 59 against Stony Brook on December 13, 2016.
