Hofstra won its sixth straight game as the Pride improved to 9-3 this season, while Stony Brook sees its two-game win streak come to an end as they fall to 10-3. The six-game win streak is Hofstra's longest since an eight-game streak in 2015-16.
The Pride trailed 19-16 with less than eight minutes remaining in the first half before using a 17-5 run to turn the three-point deficit into a 33-24 advantage with just over a minute left before intermission. Coburn had eight points during the run and Wright-Foreman added seven. Miles Latimer of Stony Brook hit a three-pointer at the first half buzzer to account for the six-point Pride lead at the break.
Hofstra pushed its lead to 13 points early in the second stanza, the last time at 44-31 with 16:45 left in regulation, before Stony Brook battled back. The Seawolves slowly chipped away at the deficit and a three-pointer from Jaron Cornish with 8:37 to play made it a two-point game at 49-47 in favor of the Pride. Wright-Foreman stepped up once again and hit back-to-back three-pointers to answer for Hofstra immediately after and the lead was back up to eight, 55-47, with 7:34 remaining. That proved to be the difference as Hofstra would keep their Long Island neighbors at bay the rest of the game in earning the seven-point victory. The Pride was a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line in the final two minutes to seal the win.
