Sophia Masciarelli placed 13
th to lead the Pride Women's Cross Country team at the 2018 Colonial Athletic Association Cross Country Championship at the Bethpage State Park Polo Grounds Friday.
Masciarelli recorded a season-best 6K time of 21:50 to top her previous best of 22:50 at the Princeton Invitational. She finished one place out of earning All-CAA honors and 37 seconds behind conference champion Coralea Geraniotis from Elon
Hofstra senior
Felicia Banda finished in 19
th place in 21:59 and recorded the best 6K time of her career. Sophomore
Megan Boese was the Pride's third finisher, clocking a career-best time of 25:08.9 to place 76
th. Freshman
Sara Leavens posted a time of 25:54 to finish in 80
th place while senior
Alli Bacher was 81
st in 25:55.7.
William and Mary returned to the top of the CAA by placing all five of their scoring runners in the top 30 and finishing with 63 points. Elon was close behind with 65 points as the Phoenix had five runners in the top 25. Delaware was third with 85 points, Northeastern was fourth with 102 points and James Madison was fifth with 111 points. Towson placed sixth with 151 points, College of Charleston was seventh with 168 points, Hofstra was eighth with 205 points and UNCW was ninth with 253 points.
Hofstra will compete next at the 6K NCAA Northeast Regional Championship in Buffalo, New York on Friday, November 9.
