VB: Hofstra Sweeps William & Mary

Williamsburg, VA - Junior Laura Masciullo had 14 kills, senior Doris Bogoje tallied 10 kills and a .714 attack percentage and junior Luisa Sydlik posted 35 assists and 11 digs to lead the Hofstra Volleyball team to a three-set sweep of William & Mary on Friday evening at Kaplan Arena. The double-double was Sydlik's team-leading 12th of the season. 

Hofstra improves to 18-7 overall and 8-3 in Colonial Athletic Association play. William & Mary falls to 5-15 and 1-10 in the league. Set scores were 25-18, 25-22, 25-13. 

The Pride hit nearly .300 for the match, including putting the contest away in the third set with a stellar .455 attack percentage. Hofstra led the contest in every category in picking up their second straight victory. Freshman Maddie Appleton posted a match-high 13 digs for Hofstra, which also got five blocks and four kills from Senior Michela Rucli. Claire Farrell led the Tribe with 13 kills, while Kate Kemp tallied 29 assists and six digs. 

Hofstra is back on the court on Sunday when it travels to Elon for a 12 p.m. contest on Sunday. 

NOTES
- Hofstra is now 27-18 all-time against William & Mary. The win was the Pride's 10th straight against the Tribe. 
- Sydlik moved into fifth place all-time in assists at Hofstra with 2,884. She passed Ines Portuondo, who had 2,871 from 1988-1990. 
- The .714 attack percentage by Bogoje was a season-high for the senior in a match with at least 10 kills.
