MSOC: Hofstra Falls To CAA-Leading James Madison

Hempstead, NY - Carson Jeffris and Manuel Ferriol each had goals for James Madison as the Colonial Athletic Association-leading Dukes picked up a 2-0 win over Hofstra Saturday night at Hofstra Soccer Stadium. The loss was Hofstra's first home defeat of the year.

The Pride fell for the second consecutive game and saw their record drop to 6-5-3 overall and 3-2-1 in the CAA. James Madison won for the third time in a row and upped its mark to 8-3-2 overall and 6-1 in league action.

The Dukes got on the scoreboard 1:07 before halftime as Jeffris took a pass from near midfield from Melker Anshelm and sent a shot that beat Hofstra goalkeeper Alex Ashton on his right side.

The Pride came out of the locker room with renewed energy at the start of the second half, but Jeffris drew a foul in the box and Ferriol converted the ensuing penalty kick for the 2-0 James Madison lead. The Pride did have a few chances to get on the scoreboard but could not get a shot past Dukes keeper TJ Bush.
