Charleston, S.C. – The Hofstra Women's Basketball outscored Charleston, 23-5, and had a 17-4 advantage in rebounds in the second quarter to push past the Cougars, 75-60, on Friday night at TD Arena for the Pride's first Colonial Athletic Association win of the season.
Hofstra (7-7, 1-2 CAA) was led by senior
Olivia Askin, who was a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, with all six coming from three-point range for 18 points. Junior Boogie Brozsoki posted her first career double-double with 16 points and 10 assists, with her assist mark also coming as a career high. Senior
Aleana Leon and sophomore
Marianne Kalin each finished with 12 points and eight rebounds.
Charleston (5-9, 1-2 CAA) had three players finish in double figures, with Bri Sullivan leading with 17 points, Tanisha Brown chipping in 12 and Darien Huff adding 10.

Marianne Kalin made it a 10-6 game. Charleston then answered with a quick 9-3 run and took a 22-11 lead into the second quarter.
The Pride came alive early in the second frame, sprinting to a 13-2 run to open the quarter, sparked by second-chance layup by Kalin. A three-pointer from junior
Boogie Brozoski then shaved the deficit to 24-21, before she knocked down another to even the score at 24. A strong drive to the hoop from Kalin gave Hofstra the lead, which it would never again give up. Askin drained a pair of treys of her own to push the lead to seven, with the Pride taking a 34-27 lead into halftime.
Askin hit two more from beyond the arc early in the third quarter to help maintain the advantage. The Cougars trimmed the deficit to three midway through the frame, before Askin knocked down another to make it 49-42. Charleston hit a long-range jumper in response to make it a four-point game. Hofstra's lead stood at 53-50 heading into the final frame.
The teams exchanged buckets to open the fourth quarter, before Brozoski drained a three for a 60-54 lead. Askin then hit her sixth of the day to make it a seven-point game. Back-to-back layups from sophomore
Mikiyah Croskey and a completed and-one play from Leon pushed the advantage to 71-59. The Pride capped the game with free throws from Croskey and sophomore
Sandra Karsten for the 75-60 win.
Hofstra concludes its southern road trip on Sunday, taking on UNCW at 1 p.m.

-Brozoski made her first start in a Hofstra uniform.
-Askin's perfect 6-for-6 mark from the field marks the first time a Hofstra player shot 100 percent from the field since
Krystal Luciano went 5-for-5 against Concordia (N.Y.) on Dec. 2, 2013.
-The Pride shot 54 percent from the field, including a 50 percent mark from three-point range. It marked the first time Hofstra shot over 50 percent this season, with the last occurrence coming at Saint Joseph's on Dec. 22, 2016.
-Croskey scored her first career points, finishing with five.
-Kalin shot over 50 percent from the field for the sixth straight game.
