WBB: Hofstra Tripped Up At William & Mary

Williamsburg, VA - Boogie Brozoski scored 16 points, four rebounds and four assists in a losing effort as Hofstra dropped a 63-53 decision to William & Mary Sunday afternoon at Kaplan Arena.

Hofstra fell to 10-11 on the season and 4-6 in Colonial Athletic Association play with the loss, its third straight. The Tribe won for the second game in a row and improved to 14-6 overall and 5-4 in the CAA.

The Pride jumped out to a 6-0 lead and led the entire first quarter, settling for a 12-11 advantage at the end of the stanza. With Hofstra leading 15-11 early in the second quarter, the Tribe went on a 13-2 run to take a 24-17 lead on Bianca Boggs' layup with 2:58 to play. A late three-pointer from Brozoski cut the Pride's deficit to five, 27-22, at the half.

William & Mary scored the first six points of the third quarter to take an 11-point lead, 33-22, with 7:43 on the clock. The Pride responded with an 8-2 run to get to within five, 35-30, with 4:14 to play on a free throw from Marianne Kalin. But the Pride would not get closer as the Tribe extended the lead to as many as 12, 46-34, with 1:12 to go in the quarter. The lead grew to 14, 61-47, in the fourth quarter before Hofstra scored six of the final eight points to make it a 10-point game.

E'Lexus Davis scored 11 points for the Pride, while Kalin added eight points and a team-high seven rebounds. Mikiyah Croskey had eight points and five boards.

Boggs led all scorers with 24 points and added eight rebounds. Jenna Green had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists. Victoria Reynolds finished with 11 points and eight rebounds, while Nari Garner chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds for the Tribe.

Hofstra is back in action one week from today when it hosts UNCW on Sunday, February 4 at 1 p.m.

-Hofstra leads the all-time series with William & Mary, 29-11-1.
-The teams split the season series.
