Rokas Gustys had his best game of the season with 20 points and 16 rebounds to lead the Hofstra Men's Basketball team to a 91-86 victory over Drexel on Saturday afternoon at the John A. Daskalakis Athletic Center.
The win was the Pride's fourth in its last five games and improved Hofstra's record to 11-7 overall and 4-2 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Drexel slipped to 7-12 and 1-5 in conference action. Junior
Justin Wright-Foreman tallied 20 points on 8-9 shooting from the field in the contest.
Drexel scored the first seven points of the game leading to an early Hofstra time out. The break in the action would work for the Pride as Hofstra used a 17-5 run to turn the deficit into a 17-12 lead following a basket from senior
Hunter Sabety with 13:11 left before intermission. A three-pointer from freshman
Jalen Ray at the 8:52 mark of the opening half would give Hofstra a 28-20 advantage, its largest of the half, before the Pride settled for a five-point lead at the break as two free throws from sophomore
Eli Pemberton closed the first half scoring.
An 8-2 run to start the second stanza put Drexel back in front at 48-47, but the Pride scored the next five points on a layup from Gustys and a three-pointer from Pemberton to move back in front at 52-48. Hofstra would push the lead to nine, 63-54, as they used a 7-0 scoring run courtesy of some strong play from Gustys. Drexel closed the gap to two, 86-84, with under a minute to play but Hofstra made five of six free throws in the final 36 seconds to earn the victory.
Pemberton added 19 points for Hofstra, while Ray posted 12 points and a team-best four assists. Tramaine Isabell had 25 points and five assists to lead Drexel.

- Hofstra is 40-46 all-time against Drexel. The Dragons are tied with Delaware as the Pride's most-common opponent all-time with 86 all-time meetings.
- The 20-point game marked the 40th straight game in double figures for Wright-Foreman. It is the nation's fifth-longest streak.
- The double-double was Gustys' eighth of the season and 42nd of his career.
- Wright-Foreman now has 1,085 points to rank 30th in program history. Gustys now has 1,040 to rank 34th in program history.
- Hofstra's 61.1% from the field was the Pride's highest since shooting 63% at Drexel on February 15, 2015.
