Hempstead, NY –Pride junior Madison Reed scored her first goal of the season late in the first half to tie the contest but Lion senior Lauren Crane broke the tie seven minutes into the second half as Columbia defeated Hofstra, 2-1 in a non-conference contest at the Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium Friday evening.

The Pride dropped their second consecutive contest to fall to 3-5 on the season. Columbia won their second consecutive game to improve to 2-3 on the year.

The two teams exchanged goals in the first 35 minutes with Columbia junior Katherine Cavanaugh opening the scoring with her second of the season at the 14:24 mark. But Reed tied the contest for Hofstra with 4:36 to play in the half off a pass from classmate Madison Sauve.
