Hempstead, NY - The Hofstra Field Hockey team fell behind early and was unable to mount a comeback as Yale picked up a 5-2 win over the Pride Sunday afternoon at Hofstra Field Hockey Stadium.
Hofstra fell to 3-4 on the season, while Yale upped its record to 2-1. Â
Yale jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half behind unassisted goals from Eliana Cabral, Katie Smith and Camille Scheyer. Â Hofstra cut the deficit to 3-1 on
Alyssa Kohler's first goal of the season off a pass from Jordan Thomson at the 29:30 mark, but the Bulldogs answered right back 31 seconds later on a goal from Imogen Davies.
The Pride scored a second half goal on a successful penalty stroke from
Frankie O'Brien. Yale capped off their strong offensive showing with a Carol Middough tally with less than five minutes to play.
Sydney Terroso made six saves in goal for Yale.
Hofstra is back in action Friday when it hosts Columbia at 4 p.m.
Notes:
-Hofstra suffered its first home loss of the season after starting 3-0.

Cecelia DeSimone made her Pride debut in goal, making three saves and allowing one goal in 35 minutes of action.

Carys Swan started the game in goal for Hofstra and made five saves in the first half while allowing four goals.
-Yale held a 20-14 advantage in shots and an 8-5 edge in penalty corners.
