Fairfield, CT – Hofstra allowed a goal in each half as Fairfield recorded a 2-0 victory over the Pride at University Field Friday afternoon.
Hofstra, which had its two-game winning streak snapped, falls to 2-2 on the season while Fairfield snapped its two-game losing streak to improve to 1-2 on the season.
Fairfield scored first at the 32:13 mark when senior Andrea Soler scored, off a backhand shot to the corner following a Pride turnover, for the first time this season. In the second half, junior Sam Giordano gave the Stags a 2-0 advantage off a penalty corner with Hannah Pike and Jaclyn Gallagher assisting at the 54:01 mark of the contest. It was Giordano's second goal of the year.
Hofstra was outshot in the contest, 14-6 including 8-0 in shots on goal. Pride senior goalie
Carys Swan made six saves in the Hofstra net. Fairfield took 10 penalty corners to Hofstra's four.
The Pride wrap-up their quick two-game road trip on Sunday, September 3 when Hofstra faces the Wildcats of New Hampshire at Memorial Field in Durham, NH. Game time is 11 a.m.
