ATH: Robert Gartland Announced As Honoree For Upcoming Hofstra Pride Golf Classic and Auction

Hempstead, NY - Robert Gartland has been announced as the honoree for the upcoming Hofstra Pride Golf Classic and Auction, the Hofstra Athletics Pride Club and the Hofstra University Department of Athletics enthusiastically announced today.

The 29th Annual Hofstra Pride Golf Classic and Auction will be held at the Garden City Country Club on Monday, July 17, 2017.

Robert F. (Bob) Gartland is Chairman of the Gartland and Mellina Group (GMG), a management consulting firm serving the financial services industry since 2009. Prior to founding GMG, he spent 34 years in the financial services industry, including 28 years (1979-2007) with Morgan Stanley. Since 2010 he has also served as an independent trustee for The Fidelity Fixed Income and Asset Allocation Mutual Funds.

Gartland graduated from Hofstra in 1974 with a degree in industrial engineering and went on to earn a master's degree the following year at Columbia University.  In the non-profit sector Gartland is a vice chairman of the Futures in Education Foundation, a member of the St. Francis Hospital Foundation Board, and a trustee of St. Dominic Church in Oyster Bay, New York.

He and his wife, Peggy, reside in Cove Neck, New York, and have four children and six grandchildren. They are avid supporters of Hofstra sports teams, season ticket holders for Men's Basketball, Pride Club members and have endowed a scholarship at Hofstra.
