BB: Hofstra Falls In 11 Innings In Game Two As JMU Sweeps Pride

Harrisonburg, VA – James Madison swept a Colonial Athletic Association doubleheader from Hofstra Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park. The Dukes won game one, 5-1, behind the pitching of Colton Harlow and then picked up a 4-3 win in 11 innings on a game-winning double from Ryan Coale in game two.

Hofstra slipped to 13-34 overall and 6-14 in the CAA with the losses. The Dukes improved to 24-22 overall and 7-13 in league play with the wins.

In game one, the Dukes scored three runs in the third to take a 3-0 lead and never looked back as Harlow kept the Pride in check. Adam Sisk provided the innings big hit with a two-run home run. Brett Johnson would add a solo home run in the sixth and a fifth run scored on a wild pitch in the seventh to close out the Dukes scoring.

Harlow (3-2) allowed one run on six hits over eight innings of work. He walked none and struck out eight. Matt Colon pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the game.

The Dukes loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the eighth but Cillis notched his 14th strikeout of the game, getting Ky Parrott looking to end the threat. Cillis took a no decision in the game, allowing three runs on four hits with 14 strikeouts over eight innings.

The Dukes threatened again in the 10th inning, putting a runner on third with two outs, but Chris Weiss picked up a strikeout to end the inning.

In the JMU 11th, Parrott drew a leadoff walk and went to second on a sacrifice bunt. Coale then followed with the game-winning double to left center.
