Hempstead, NY – A trip north to Boston and a meeting with Colonial Athletic Association-leading Northeastern is on tap for the Hofstra University Baseball team this weekend as the Pride and Huskies begin a three-game series Friday at 2:30 p.m. at Friedman Diamond.
Hofstra enters the weekend with a 10-28 overall record and a 3-9 mark in the CAA. The Pride is coming off a 6-3 loss to Manhattan Wednesday despite a 3-4 day from
Steven Foster and a solo home run from
Tom Archer.
Northeastern is 20-17 overall and 9-3 in league play. The first place Huskies have won four consecutive games after sweeping a pair of doubleheaders from NYIT this past weekend.
Hofstra will start
Teddy Cillis (0-7, 5.33) in Friday's opener while the Huskies will counter with Nate Borges (1-3, 3.00). Saturday's matchup will feature
John Rooney (3-7, 5.95) against David Stiehl (4-3, 5.97). Hofstra is undecided on Sunday's starter while Northeastern is slated to throw Brian Christian (5-0, 3.31).
Hofstra trails in the overall series with Northeastern, 33-19. The Huskies took two of three from the Pride last season in in Hempstead.
