BB: Hofstra Falls To Delaware In Series Finale

Newark, DE - Teddy Cillis had a three-run home run and Vinnie Costello added an RBI double but Delaware completed a three game sweep with an 11-4 victory over Hofstra Sunday at Bob Hannah Stadium.

Hofstra fell to 8-25 overall and 2-7 in the Colonial Athletic Association with the loss. Delaware moved to 20-14 and 7-5 in league play.

Delaware hit five home runs on the day, including two from Brian Mayer. Mayer was 2-4 with four RBIs on the day. Nick Tierno, Jeremy Ake and Jordan Glover also homered for the Blue Hens.

Delaware built an 11-0 lead before Costello put the Pride on the board with his RBI double in the eighth. Two batters later, Cillis hit his second home run of the year to make it 11-4.

Cillis finished 2-4 on the day. Steven Foster continued his torrid hitting with a 3-5 day, while David Leiderman was 2-5.

John Rooney (2-7) took the loss for Hofstra, allowing eight runs on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Brandon Walter (4-5) allowed five hits in five shutout innings to get the win for Delaware.

???????Hofstra returns to action Tuesday night at Manhattan. Game time at Duchess County Stadium is 6:30 p.m.
 
Notes:
-Steven Foster is 15 for his last 24 following his three-hit day.
