Hempstead, NY -
Brad Witkowski went 3-3 with two doubles and
Vito Friscia was 3-4 with a double and an RBI to back five Pride pitchers in a 3-1 win over LIU Post Wednesday afternoon at University Field.
Hofstra improved to 7-16 with the win, while the Pioneers slipped to 10-11.
The Pioneers got on the board first, scoring a third inning run as Sal Geraci's sacrifice fly drove in Rob Andreoli, who had reached on a fielder's choice and stole second and third.
But Hofstra responded with two runs in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead. The Pride loaded the bases with no outs and after a fielder's choice resulted in an out at the plate,
David Leiderman drew a walk to force in the first run.
Teddy Cillis followed with a grounder to first. Pioneer first baseman Anthony Vaglica tried for the out at home but his throw was wide and allowed the go ahead run to score.
The score remained that way until the eighth when the Pride tacked on an insurance run on Friscia's RBI double that plated Witkowski, who had doubled to start the inning.
Witkowski started the game and three two scoreless innings for the Pride.
