BB: Hofstra Drops Series Finale At Charleston

Mt. Pleasant, SC - Bradley Dixon's sacrifice fly in the sixth inning broke a 2-2 tie as College of Charleston won the deciding game of a Colonial Athletic Association series, 4-2, Sunday at The Ballpark at Patriots Point.

Hofstra slipped to 6-16 on the season, 1-2 in CAA play. The Cougars are now 10-14 overall and 2-1 in league action.

Hofstra took a 2-0 lead following a first inning RBI single from Mikey Riesner and a fourth inning solo home run from David Leiderman. But Charleston rallied for two runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game. Seth Wall had an RBI double and Dixon delivered an RBI single.

In the sixth, Danny Wondrack led off with a triple and after a walk to Wall, Dixon flied out to right with Wondrack coming home with the go-ahead run. The Cougars added an insurance run in the eighth as Joey Mundy had an RBI single.

Evan Sisk (2-0), who pitched five innings of relief, earned the win after allowing one run on four hits. Justin Baker pitched the ninth to record his first save.

John Rooney (1-5) took the loss for Hofstra after allowing three runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings. He walked four batters and struck out five.

Brad Witkowski went 3-4 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base for the Pride. Teddy Cillis had two hits on the day as well.

Hofstra returns to action Tuesday when it hosts Manhattan College at 3 p.m.

-Witkowski batted .573 (7-12) in the series
-Leiderman's home run was his first of the season
