BB: Hofstra Falls To Charleston In Second Game Of CAA Series

Mt. Pleasant, SC – Jacob Frishmuth threw 6 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball and Dupree Hart had two hits and drove in four runs as College of Charleston posted a 12-1 victory over Hofstra Saturday at the Ballpark at Patriots Point. The win evened the Colonial Athletic Association series at one game apiece.

The Cougars (9-14, 1-1 CAA) scored seven runs in the third inning and never looked back as they snapped a seven game losing streak. Hofstra slipped to 6-15 overall and 1-1 in the CAA with the loss.

Charleston started the third with Hart drawing a base on balls. Luke Manzo was hit by a pitch and both runs came in to score on a throwing error on Tommy Richter's sacrifice bunt. Danny Wondrack would add a two-run single and Hart would cap the inning with a three-run double.

Erven Roper had a two-run home run for Charleston in the fourth inning and Bradley Dixon added an RBI single as the lead grew to 10-0. Hart and Manzo added RBIs in the eighth to close out the Cougar scoring.

The Pride avoided a shutout as Sean Rausch knocked in Tom Archer, who had doubled, in the ninth inning. Brad Witkowski had another two-hit game for the Pride

Frishmuth (1-2) allowed seven hits in his 6 2/3 innings of work with three strikeouts. Griffin McLarty allowed a run on three hits in 2 1/3 innings of relief.

Jorge Marrero (1-3) took the loss for Hofstra, allowing nine runs (five earned) on six hits in 3 1/3 innings. Seamus Brazill, the third of four Hofstra pitchers, turned in the best outing of the day for the Pride as he pitched 3 1/3 innings of no-run, no-hit baseball.
