MBB: Pride Look To Tame Tigers On Thursday

Hempstead, NY – Fresh off of back-to-back win at home last week, the Hofstra Men's Basketball team will look to continue its win streak when it travels to Towson on Thursday.

Tip-off from SECU Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.

There will be Pride Productions live video/audio of the game with links available on this page and via the men's basketball schedule page at GoHofstra.com. The Pride Productions audio only broadcast can be heard via the portal, on the WRHU mobile app and on WRHU.org.

In one of the more improbable wins in Hofstra Basketball history, the Pride rallied from a 10-point deficit in the final minute on Saturday to stun Drexel, 79-77, and improve to 12-13 overall and 4-8 in Colonial Athletic Association play. After Drexel took a 77-67 lead with 1:15 left in regulation, Hofstra would get three-pointers from freshman Eli Pemberton and senior Brian Bernardi to cut the deficit to four with 38 seconds remaining. Senior Deron Powers made it a two-point game with a pair of free throws at the 24-second mark and a three-pointer from the corner from sophomore Justin Wright-Foreman with 20 ticks left completed the comeback and gave Hofstra the shocking win.

Wright-Foreman leads the Pride in scoring at 15.9 points per game and has scored 20 or more points in five straight games. In addition, he has scored in double figures in 15 consecutive contests dating back to the Kentucky game on December 11.

Powers and Pemberton are tied for second on the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game with Powers also leading Hofstra with 5.2 assists per outing. Junior Rokas Gustys has missed the last three games with an injury but continues to be the Pride's top rebounder at 12 per game. In his absence, just Hunter Sabety has filled in admirably and most recently contributed nine points, seven rebounds and two blocks against Drexel.

Towson has also won two straight games to move its record to 15-10 and 7-5 in the league. They most recently captured an 82-80 win over William & Mary on Saturday after earning a 104-103 double overtime decision over Drexel last Thursday.

Mike Morsell is tops on the team in scoring with 13.7 points per game. William Adala Moto is second with 12.5 points and second in rebounding as well with 6.7 per contest. John Davis leads the Tigers with 7.7 rebounds per game and ranks third in scoring at 11.8 points per game.

Hofstra leads the all-time series with Towson, 39-25. The series began during the 1982-83 season with Hofstra winning that matchup by the score of 86-71. The Pride had won three straight in the series before Towson rallied for an 86-80 win in Hempstead on January 19. The Pride won both games a season ago – earning a 90-58 victory in Towson before completing the season sweep with an 84-82 win in New York.
