MBB: Wright-Foreman And Pemberton Lead Hofstra Past Rider

Lawrenceville, NJ – Junior Justin Wright-Foreman poured in a season-high 30 points and sophomore Eli Pemberton added a career-best 28 points to lead the Hofstra Men's Basketball team to another huge road win, 88-82, over Rider on Saturday evening at Alumni Gymnasium.

Hofstra improves to 6-3 with its third straight win, while Rider falls to 5-5.

It was a highly-entertaining game that featured a total of 20 lead changes and 11 tie scores. The game would be knotted for the final time at 71 with 6:21 remaining before freshman Jalen Ray came up huge once again and drained a three-pointer with 4:51 left to put the Pride up for good. That basket would kick-start a game-changing 9-0 Hofstra run that made it 80-71 with 2:44 to play. Rider closed to within three, 80-77, with less than two minutes remaining before Hofstra went 4-4 from the charity stripe in the final 45 seconds to clinch the win.

Ray finished with 17 points for Hofstra, his second straight game with a season-high after posting 14 points at Monmouth on Wednesday. Graduate Joel Angus III added eight points and 10 rebounds, while senior Rokas Gustys tied him for game-high honors with 10 rebounds. Rider got 17 points and eight rebounds from Jordan Allen and 19 points, six steals and five assists from Stevie Jordan.

Hofstra is back in action on Tuesday when it travels east to face Stony Brook at 7 p.m.
