Hempstead, N.Y. – After earning United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-East Region First-Team honors earlier this week, Hofstra Women's Soccer junior defender
Madeline Anderson has been named to the association's Scholar All-America Second Team, it was announced Thursday afternoon.
The honor caps an accolade-filled season for Anderson, who was named the Colonial Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Year, while also earning ECAC and United Soccer Coaches All-Region First-Team honors. The Westbury, New York, native has posted a 3.34 grade-point average as an exercise science major.
On the field, Anderson anchored a Hofstra backline that led the Pride to 11 shutouts on the season, allowing just three goals through a perfect 9-0 conference slate. She helped the team to a 12-game win streak and 14-game unbeaten run en route to the CAA regular-season and tournament titles, also earning CAA All-Tournament Team honors. In addition to her defensive prowess, she also finished the season with two goals and two assists, with both of her goals coming as game-winners.
