VB: Masciullo And Perez Lead Hofstra Past William & Mary

Williamsburg, VA – Junior Nanishka Perez tallied a season-high 13 kills and added 10 digs for her second double-double of the season as the Hofstra Volleyball team defeated William & Mary in four sets on Sunday afternoon at Kaplan Arena. The Pride got a match-high 18 kills and 12 digs from sophomore Laura Masciullo. It was Masciullo's seventh double-double of the season. 

Hofstra upped its record to 16-12 and 8-6 in conference play, while the Tribe fall to 5-23 and 2-12 in Colonial Athletic Association action. Set scores were 18-25, 25-23, 25-18 and 25-18. 

The Pride would need to rally in the contest as the Tribe took the first set, defeating Hofstra by seven points to earn an early lead. The pivotal second stanza would be knotted at 23 before Hofstra scored two straight, including a kill from freshman Sanne Maring, to even the match. From there the Pride took control and would eventually earn their 16th victory of the season. Freshman Emma Price added nine kills and five blocks for the Pride, while Maring finished with eight blocks and five kills and sophomore Luisa Sydlik posted 45 assists and seven digs. Julia Brown notched 12 kills and six blocks for the Tribe. 

Hofstra returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Northeastern for a 7 p.m. match. 

NOTES
- Hofstra is now 24-18 all-time against William & Mary. The Pride has won nine straight matches against the Tribe. 
- Freshman Ana Martinovic had a season-high 18 digs for Hofstra. Her previous high of 14 came at UNCW on October 22. 
- The kill total for Perez eclipsed her previous season-high of 10 against LIU Brooklyn on September 1.
