The Pride (8-3-2, 4-0 CAA) picked up two more Colonial Athletic Association wins last week to stay on top of the table, defeating Drexel, 2-0, and William & Mary, 3-1. Senior
Kristin Desmond was responsible for the game-winning goal in both games and added an assist, earning CAA Player of the Week. She leads the conference in goals (8) and points (17).
Junior
Jenn Buoncore also recorded a pair of goals and an assist, while freshman
Bella Richards posted two assists and classmate
Lucy Porter scored her first collegiate goal.
Through Hofstra's unbeaten streak, the goalkeeping tandem of senior
Jenna Borresen and redshirt-junior
Ashley Wilson has allowed just two goals – one each – to help Hofstra lead the conference in goals-against average at 0.81.
The Tigers (4-7-2, 1-2 CAA) have a conference win over Elon and 1-0 losses to Drexel and Delaware. Maddie Bove leads the team with three goals and two assists. The Pride beat the Tigers, 1-0, in the season finale last year, and leads the all-time series, 20-2-1.
The Dukes (7-6, 2-2 CAA) dropped a pair of conference games to UNCW and defending CAA champion Northeastern last weekend after topping William & Mary and Elon in the first week of conference play. Haley Crawford leads the team with five goals and five assists. The Pride took a dominant 4-1 win over the Dukes a season ago, closing James Madison's lead in the series to 10-7-3.
Hofstra heads to reigning conference champion and preseason favorite Northeastern on Oct. 12.
