MBB: Hofstra Drops Exhibition Contest At Fairfield

Fairfield, CT – The Hofstra Men's Basketball team dropped a 94-78 decision to Fairfield University in an exhibition game at Alumni Hall. The game helped to raise funds for hurricane relief efforts. Junior Justin Wright-Foreman led Hofstra with 19 points and added eight rebounds. The Pride also got a double-double from senior Hunter Sabety with 18 points and 11 rebounds. 

"We can't thank Fairfield University for hosting this very important event this evening," commented Hofstra Head Coach Joe Mihalich. "Save The Children is a wonderful charity that will assist all those affected by the recent hurricanes. Hofstra University and our men's basketball program urge every to do everything they can do to assist those in need."

The game was tied at 47 late in the first half before the Stags used a 15-0 run spanning the two halves to take a 62-47 advantage with 17:13 left in regulation. Down by 13, Hofstra would score five straight to close the game to 64-56 with just under 16 minutes left in the second stanza following a dunk from Sabety. Hofstra was unable to get over the hump and Fairfield would hold on for the victory. Senior Rokas Gustys chipped in with 16 points. Tyler Nelson led all scorers in the game with 30 points for Fairfield.

NOTES
- The game served as an exhibition to raise funds for hurricane relief efforts that have affected residents in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Unofficially the game raised more than $3,200 for Save The Children.
