Charleston, SC – The Hofstra Volleyball team dropped a three-set decision to Charleston on Friday evening at TD Arena. The Cougars won by set scores of 25-13, 25-18 and 30-28.
The loss drops Hofstra's record to 13-10 overall and 5-4 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Charleston improved to 19-4 and 8-1 in conference play. The Pride was led by
Laura Masciullo's 10 kills, while junior
Michela Rucli posted six blocks in the match.
Hofstra fell behind in the contest as Charleston won the first two sets before the Pride battled hard in the third set and held the Cougars to a negative .059 attack percentage in nearly sending the match to a fourth set. It was not to be, though, as CofC held off the Pride as the set went into "extra time". Kennedy Madison had 14 kills for Charleston to lead all players in the match.
Hofstra returns to action on Sunday when it travels to UNCW for a 12:30 p.m. match.
NOTES
- Hofstra is now 5-8 all-time against Charleston.
- It was Masciullo's fifth straight match with at least 10 kills.
