Milford, CT - Hofstra placed two golfers –
Larissa Stergiou and
Amanda Bigger – in the top 10 and placed fourth as a team at the Sacred Heart Fall Classic at the Great River Golf Club Monday afternoon.
Stergiou, who was the first round leader at 72 (E), slipped a spot and finished second following an 80 (+8) during her final round. Stergiou's 152 (+8) was one shot behind tournament winner Christine McDonnell of Navy.
Bigger finished in a three-way tie for ninth plate at 168 (+24) following rounds of 82 (+10) and 86 (+14).
Ana Sofia Rodriguez and
Shannon Haselton tied for 24th in the 39-player field at 180 (+36). Rodriguez shot back-to-back rounds of 90 (+18), while Haselton carded scores of 85 (+13) and 95 (+23).
Katie Krahulik placed 29th at 194 (+50) following rounds of 101 (+29) and 93 (+21).
The host Pioneers won the team title at 641 (+65). Navy was second at 656 (+80), while Monmouth took third place with a 668 (+92). The Pride finished fourth at 678 (+102) with Fairfield fifth (743, +167), Post (CT) sixth (752, +176) and St. Francis Brooklyn seventh (992, +416).
Hofstra closes out the fall campaign next Monday and Tuesday at the St. John's Invitational.
