VB: Rucli Powers Pride Past Blue Hens

Newark, DE – Junior Michela Rucli tallied 12 kills, a .500 attack percentage and four blocks to lead the Hofstra Volleyball team to a four-set win over Delaware on Sunday afternoon at the Bob Carpenter Center. Set scores were 25-12, 19-25, 25-15 and 25-15 in favor of the Pride. 

The win was Hofstra's third straight and improves the Pride's record to 11-7 overall and 3-1 in league action. Delaware falls to 3-11 and 1-3 in the association. 

Freshman Ivania Ortiz tied Rucli for team-high honors with 12 kills and added seven digs in the match. Hofstra hit nearly .300 (.292) in the contest, while holding Delaware to a .074 attack percentage in the convincing victory. The first and third sets saw the Pride hit over .500 as they combined for 29 kills and only three errors in those two sets. Sophomore Luisa Sydlik posted 39 assists for Hofstra, while junior Caylie Denham picked up 10 digs for the Pride. Maria Bellinger had 15 kills for Delaware, which also got 13 digs from Maddie Judge. 

Hofstra returns to action on Friday when it hosts Elon at 5 p.m. 

NOTES
- Hofstra improved to 49-19 all-time against Delaware. 
- Rucli reached double figures in kills for the fifth time this season and the second time in the last three matches. 
- Junior Nanishka Perez posted a career-best five service aces in the match. Previously she had four aces on a pair of occasions, last against Bryant on September 16.
