MSOC: Brown Scores Twice As Hofstra Downs Northeastern

Brookline, Mass. – Freshman Luke Brown scored twice in the second half to help lift Hofstra Men's Soccer to a 3-0 win at Northeastern on Wednesday night at Parsons Field. With the win, the Pride improves to 5-3-1 and 3-0 in Colonial Athletic Association play.

Hofstra has outscored its CAA opponents, 9-0, and has allowed just two shots on goal in its three conference matches. In fact, the Pride has allowed just one goal over its past six games, with only No. 3 Syracuse finding the back of the net over that span.

Hofstra struck early against the Huskies (2-7, 1-2 CAA), with senior Andreas Iosifides sending a cross into junior Meshack Eshun Addy, who drew Northeastern goalkeeper Jonathan Thuresson off his line, allowing Eshun Addy to tap into an empty net. Eshun Addy has scored within the game's first 11 minutes in back-to-back contests after scoring in the ninth minute against College of Charleston on Saturday.

Moments later the Huskies nearly equalized, hitting the post at the other end. Brown then hit a post for Hofstra with about 17 minutes to go in the first half on a through-ball from senior Joseph Holland.

Brown then found the back of the net twice in less than nine minutes early in the second half to push the Pride's lead to 3-0. Classmate Adam Savill registered his first career point on Brown's first strike in the 48th minute, receiving a pass from senior Joseph Holland and sending a cross into Brown, which Brown headed on net. Thuresson got a fingertip on the shot and directed it just over the line. Brown then struck again in the 57th minute, redirecting Holland's shot for Holland's second assist of the game and fourth of the season and Brown's third goal on the year.

Northeastern had a quality chance in the 67th minute, with Khesanio Hall's shot just skimming the top of the net. Then, in the waning moments of the game, the Huskies were awarded a free kick just outside the 18-yard box, and the shot glanced off the crossbar.

Sophomore goalkeepers Leonard Arkhanhelskyi and Alex Ashton once again split the game, with Arkhanhelskyi making the Pride's lone save in the first half.

Hofstra travels to Delaware for a matchup of the league's top two teams at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
