Danny Elliott scored as Hofstra took a 2-1 win over Delaware on Saturday night to claim sole possession of first place in the Colonial Athletic Association. The Pride moved to 6-3-1 overall and 4-0 in conference play.
Brown opened the scoring in the 18th minute, taking a shot from 25 yards out.
Delaware (8-3, 3-1) then knotted the score at one before the first half was over, netting a goal on a pass from Guillermo Delgado in the 34th minute.
Elliott then scored the winner for Hofstra in the 58th minute, putting away a shot from 10 yards out. Elliott took over the team lead with five goals, with Brown close behind with four.
Delaware outshot the Pride, 12-7, but sophomore
Alex Ashton made four saves to preserve the win for Hofstra.
The Pride takes a break from conference play on Tuesday, travelling to Virginia for a 7 p.m. matchup.
