Wilmington, N.C. – Hofstra Volleyball won a close first set against Colonial Athletic Association foe UNCW but dropped the next three as the Seahawks took the match, 3-1, on Sunday afternoon in Wilmington. Set scores were 24-26, 25-16, 25-18, 25-19.
The loss set Hofstra back to 10-5 on the season and 0-2 in CAA play, while UNCW improved to 11-3 and 1-1 in conference.

Hannah Klemm posted 27 assists, while freshman
Laura Masciullo recorded 17 kills and sophomore
Luisa Domingues led the team with 15 digs. Maddy Kline led UNCW with 19 kills.
The Seahawks got out to an early 5-2 lead in the first set, but Hofstra took nine straight points to build an 11-5 lead. UNCW answered, however, with eight straight points of its own to go ahead 16-13. The teams continued to battle, exchanging points and leaving the set tied at 24.
Laura Masciullo's kill gave the Pride the 25-24 advantage before a Seahawks attack error won the set for Hofstra.
The Pride and the Seahawks were deadlocked in the second set, continuing to trade points, before UNCW went on a 12-2 run to take the set, 25-16.
The Seahawks took the lead and held it in the third set, but Hofstra battled in the deciding set. After going down 10-3, the Pride rallied to pull within one, 14-13, but six straight points later allowed UNCW to take the set and the match.
Hofstra hosts conference opponents James Madison and William & Mary next weekend at the David S. Mack Fitness Center.
