Las Vegas, NV – The Hofstra Volleyball team fell in three sets to UNLV on Friday evening at the Rebel Challenge at the Cox Pavilion.
Set scores were 25-15, 25-21 and 25-22 in favor of UNLV.
Junior
Leticia Valente led all players in the match with 14 kills, while also posting a .429 attack percentage and adding two blocks.
The match was Hofstra's second of the day and the loss dropped their record to 4-2 this season. UNLV stays perfect at 5-0. Earlier on Friday, Hofstra fell in five sets to CSUN.
After UNLV easily won the first stanza, Hofstra battled hard in the second and third sets before dropping the match.
Hofstra looked to be in position to capture the third set as a kill from Valente gave the Pride a 20-17 lead late in the stanza. UNLV rallied and scored four straight, and after the set was tied at 21, the home team closed with a 4-1 run to end the match.
Freshman
Laura Masciullo posted 10 kills for Hofstra, while sophomore
Luisa Domingues had 14 digs and senior
Hannah Klemm tallied 34 assists.
Bree Hammel had 13 kills for UNLV and Alexis Patterson dished out 36 assists for the home squad.
Hofstra will play one final match at the UNLV Rebel Challenge as the Pride take on Sacramento State at 2:30 p.m. EST on Saturday.
NOTES
- Hofstra is now 0-2 all-time against UNLV with the only previous match occurring in 2007.

Veronika Kostova had four kills for Hofstra, ending her streak of consecutive matches with double-figures in kills at 11.
- Sophomore
Michela Rucli posted eight kills on 14 attempts with no errors for a .571 attack percentage.
